As the legendary railroad hub of Mid-Michigan, Durand offers a major site of historical significance -
The Durand Union Station (nationally known as The Michigan Railroad History Museum). The railroad is
so important to Durand's history that events such as Durand Railroad Days honor the city's railroad
heritage. However, there is more to Durand than the railroad. Some of Durand's most prominent
businesses and companies from the railroad's heyday continue today. In addition, several new
businesses have succeeded in recent years and more are on the way.
